About: Callao Salvaje

The holiday resort of Callao Salvaje is a small residential town in the south west of Tenerife, approximately 13km north west of the larger town and popular holiday resort of Playa de las Americas. Callao Salvaje belongs to the municipal district of Adeje.

The resort is only a short journey from Tenerife's southern airport - Reina Sofia and can be reach in approximately 40 minutes using the main TF-1 motorway.

Callao Salvaje is one of the newer resorts of Tenerife and a good selection of holiday rental apartments, villas and other types of accommodation can be found in the area. As with a lot of holiday resorts in Tenerife and the Canary Islands - Callao Salvaje used to be an old fishing village that has quickly transformed into holiday destination and alternative place to stay in Tenerife.

There are several good sized supermarket in the area, many stocking popular British brands but expect to pay the extra price it has cost to import them!
There are a good selection of restaurants in Callao Salvaje and most complex also have a restaurant too. A 10 minute drive to Playa de las Americas offers an even wider selection of places to dine.

Callao Salvaje main beach is fairly small and is known locally as Pebble Beach. As the name suggests, the beach consists mainly of pebbles but there are future plans to import golden sand into the area and create an artificial beach.

The resort of Callao Salvaje makes a nice, alternative place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the major resorts and is an ideal base for exploring the island of Tenerife with the motorway being nearby - Tiede National Park to the north and Play de Fanabe, Costa Adeje Golf course, Playa de las Americas and Los cristianos only a few miles to the south.
